About Us

Bagmati Province Directorate of Health, Makwanpur, is the chief technical and administrative unit of health in Hetainda Province. The Directorate of Health ensures proper management of preventive and curative health services through various health institutions in the province.

The main responsibility of this office is to carry out the following functions:

  • Formulation, implementation and regulation of provincial policies, laws, standards and plans related to health services and nutrition
  • Management of promotional, preventive, curative and restorative health services required at the provincial level.
  • Registration, operation permit and regulation of state-level academic, business and professional associations related to health services
  • Determining, monitoring and regulating the quality of health services at the provincial level
  • According to national standards, production and storage of pharmaceutical and health technology related materials, determination of maximum retail price, final disposal, determination of quality and standards and registration, operation permit and regulation of industries producing such materials.
  • Registration, operation permit and regulation of hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centers, treatment centers and other health institutions and laboratories as per national standards
  • Monitoring and accounting framework for water, sound and air quality and determination and implementation of quality standards
  • Management and regulation of social health security programs including health insurance according to national standards
  • Human resource development and management of provincial level health sector
  • Pharmacovigilance, appropriate use of drugs and antimicrobials, resistance, mitigation
  • Immunization and family planning
  • Procurement and supply management of sensitive medicines and other health materials
  • Study and research related to health services at the provincial level and information system, institutional management of health accounting system, information flow
  • State-level public health monitoring, management
  • Standards, control and regulation of tobacco, alcohol and drug products
  • Emergency management in the health sector, disaster and epidemic management, emergency service delivery, regional buffer stock management of drugs and medicinal materials for emergency health.
  • Control and prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases
  • Development and management of physical infrastructure related to health services according to national standards
  • Determination, implementation and regulation of health waste management standards
  • Implementation, monitoring and regulation of state-level standards related to Ayurvedic, Unani, Amchi, Homeopathic, naturopathy and other popular traditional health treatment services.
  • Formulation of provincial policies and laws and plans related to population, migration and family planning, implementation and regulation studies and research, establishment of information systems and enhancement of operational capacity and liaison and coordination with national institutions.
